His to Control

He understands the power of surrender. She understands the power of saying no.

CEO × accountantPrivate-club secretsPower struggleStrong heroine

Jamerson Summers has built his life around control. As a chief executive and an investor in Cross, an exclusive private club, he knows how to command a room and keep his worlds apart.

Sydney Ryan refuses to be intimidated by his name, his wealth or his authority. Sharp, independent and already close to his family, she is the one woman who makes him question the rules he lives by.

Behind the doors of Cross, attraction becomes an intimate exchange of power. But trust is harder to negotiate than desire, and the line between protection and possession is dangerously easy to cross.

When control becomes a weapon, surrender may cost more than either of them imagined.

The weight of control

Meg's head fell back, her body trembling with intense, overwhelmed pleasure. "Yes... oh god, please... keep going..."

The Doms maintained absolute control, their pacing measured and supportive, matching her breathing, praising her capacity to receive them, while one leaned down to hold her face and capture her mouth in a grounding kiss.

When Meg shattered into a violent, shuddering climax that shook her entire frame, both men supported her weight completely, holding her steady until the spasms subsided into soft, weeping release.

Immediately following the scene, the restraints were unfastened.

The Doms wrapped Meg in a heavy heated fleece blanket, offered her warm electrolyte water, and sat with her on the floor, murmuring quiet praise while stroking her hair.

In the booth, I’m trembling. My breathing is ragged, my chest rising and falling rapidly beneath my charcoal dress.

Jamerson leans down, his lips brushing the shell of my ear. “The aftercare team will sit with Meg for forty-five minutes. She is safe, warm and completely cared for.”

He pauses, his attention settling on the rapid pulse jumping at the base of my throat. “Which leaves you and me, Sydney.”

I turn within the booth, pressing my back against the railing. His blue eyes hold mine through the dim amber light.

“Jamerson…”

“Let me show you the rest of Cross,” he murmurs, extending his hand. “Let me show you what happens when control is given to someone who understands the weight of it.”

The scene ends, but its effect on me does not.

Meg is safe. I can see it in the careful way the men adjust the blanket and wait for her to accept the water. She does not look diminished. She looks emptied of every thought that normally crowds her mind.

I understand the appeal more deeply than I want to.

Jamerson's offered hand remains between us.

"You watched me more than you watched her," I say.

"Yes."

No denial. No attempt to make the answer polite.

"What did you learn?"

"You respond to patience more strongly than spectacle. You became tense when the scene intensified, but you relaxed whenever they checked her. You are curious about surrender, but only if you trust the person holding control."

"That's a lot to infer from breathing."

"You also pressed your thighs together when they made her wait."

Heat floods my face.

"Arrogant man."

"Observant man."

I look at his hand again before placing mine in it.

The coded lift takes us below the public floors. Jamerson shows me the medical suite first, then the bathing rooms and quiet lounges used for aftercare. He explains cleaning records, panic buttons and the rule that allows any member of staff to stop a scene.

"Even yours?" I ask.

"Especially mine. Power makes oversight more important, not less."

The answer is too perfect.

"Do you rehearse these lines?"

"I wrote several of the policies."

"That isn't an answer."

His mouth curves. "No. I didn't rehearse for you. You would hear it."

He takes me into the old bank vault. The circular room contains a chair beneath a cone of light, padded walls and discreet storage built into the original metal compartments.

"What happens here?"

"Whatever is negotiated."

"That sounds deliberately vague."

"Because I am not going to describe a fantasy and let you confuse curiosity with agreement."

I turn towards him. "You really believe control is care."

"I believe it can be. I also believe men use the language of dominance to excuse selfishness."

The shadow that moves through his expression makes me wonder whether he's thinking about Remi.

We sit at a desk for almost an hour. He tells me how he entered the scene at university, what he wants from submission and why none of his previous arrangements lasted.

"They weren't interesting enough?"

"They tried to become what they thought I wanted."

"And what do you want?"

His blue eyes settle on me. "Someone who remains herself when she kneels."

The answer follows me all the way home.
